The Image idea (1) would work best in a plain silver frame this is because otherwise the image and frame would conflict. The image is already complex and a lot of detail so combining this with a busy frame would be overpowering on the eye. For this reason shops such as Clas Ohlson and Argos would suit it better. After looking at the types of frames that Argos and Clas Ohlson sell they seem to be a similar range and way of presenting.
Argos Either has cheap plain frames with no writing in it or slightly more pricey frames with a painting. None of their frames include measurements or information about the frame. This is because of the way Argos sells their products - you are either buying it online where the information in included in the blurb or from a magazine where the information is equally right next to it. In my opinion they could have used this to their advantage and filled the frame with better graphics but from a financial point of view this is too costly for the price that they are selling them at.
Clas Ohlson uses the same image for practically all their frames but it works well in most framing. This is encouraging as it means idea 1 with images could work well as a range not just for one frame type. They have a wide range of costing as well but unlike Argos they include all their information and an image. They still could have gone further and created a range of images but this is still a progression from Argos.
For the leaf idea I wanted to explore more natural rustic frames. In the crit people suggested looking into Zara home and Laura Ashley to get an idea of type and also style. Both Laura Ashley and Zara frames are disappointingly minimal with their backgrounds. As you can see Zara keeps it simple and all text is small and in the middle. Laura Ashely works with a stripped back ground and text is central in the top and bottom. Both pieces use light colours and don't write in black or harsh colours.
Now I will experiment with typography that would work within these ideas.
