Here shows the beginning of my book publication. I have kept the layout simple and only used Gill Sans and a Typewriter font to create it. Certain aspects I have taken influence from the Ration book I looked at. For example the bold underlined titles but at the same point size as the body copy. The outer margin being relatively small so the paragraphs are close to the edge of the page and a large gutter so that it later leaves room for it to be stapled together. The leading is small which means the paragraph looks bunched up almost. They wouldn't have spaced the lines out much because it would have added to printing costs and on mass production this isn't viable. In the book the writing starts in the top left corner and works down the page. I decided to break away from this and centre it in the page because I felt it looked better opposing the photograph straight inline; the photo is also placed centrally. Each page is numbered in the top outer corner, this also follows on from the layout of the ration book.
I have designed it on white so that I can look into stock and print on different colours rather than editing the background colour on indesign. Under the title on each page I want to add in what type of propaganda it is; whether it is anti semiatic or encouraging people to love their country. I also need/want to make it clearer what country it is, Im tempted to change it and make 4 separate books because then the page and book size would fit with a ration book. However I don't know whether I would have to put the introduction in each booklet.
