Brief 3 - Alphabet Soup/ Typeface: Research into Answers

After the questions that were answered, it seems like a good idea to do a bit of research into some of the answers that were give to try and understand them a bit better and also to have something visual to look at and take inspiration from.

Here is a brief diagram of a car engine. This diagram shows how ridgit the shapes are and how precise they are or need to be to be able to work together. If you ignore the separate sections and look at it as a whole it is a complicated and busy piece of design. This aspect is something that should be taken into the letter forms and explored. Looking into designing letterforms in the style or made up of car pieces could work but would also be limiting so if I take the fundamental aspects and put those into a type face. They are busy, many layers, use of different tones, depth and a sense of everything fitting together.

When answered "what is your favourite type of music or artist" Jonny answered Rick Ross and that he likes rap. Looking into the album cover of this artist the layout is debatable but the focus is definitely on the artist standing out of the black. Being different to everyone else by showing of expensive jewellery and sunglasses. The Albums primarily use black and gold as their main colours. The fonts seem over complicated and over worked but it is interesting to see how this could affect my final typeface.

Jonny said his dream job would to be an F1 driver, I wanted to look into their logo because I love how the negative space has formed the 1 and even though it isn't their physically we cannot help but see it, quite like the arrow in the FedEx logo. This could be an interesting idea when creating an alphabet, playing around with how much of the letter has to actually sow for you to be able to read it.
