Brief 3 - Alphabet Soup/ Typeface: Research into Money Type

One thing that stood out when speaking to Jonny was that he likes to have money (who doesn't?) but he said he was quite materialistic, and he was happiest on pay day. I thought this was quite interesting and could be the starting ground for a type face. I began to research into typefaces that use money and found and interesting advert campaign for the New York Lottery.

This was the font that they created, having rolls of money on their side to create each letter. Although I feel if I do this it may be too expensive! plus with the limitation of black and white it may mean that the concept is lost.

Below is the type in use. This campaign is clever as its not over complicated, just a small sentence you read as you walk along it becomes high impact as the text is made out of money. It implies that you have more money than you know what to do with.

Lunch Money was a typeface designed out of the folding of money. I personally prefer this type to the New York one, although I think for its intended purpose the New York one works well as it has a higher impact, this one is easier to read.

Above is another idea that could work quite well - the idea of printing a simple san serif onto money. It gets the point across but doesn't take away from the money or the type face.
