Brief 2 - Alphabet Soup/ Illustrator: Research

The first thing that was important was to look at different types of instruments, this way the shape and structure of them can be compared and also find similarities which may influence my letterforms.

Looking at the guitar above the features that stand out are the smooth curves creating the outline compared with the thin almost invisible lines of the strings.

The Violin's shape and the sharp indents on the side are aseptically pleasing and interesting to the eye, along with the cut out swirls. One fact that may be useful when designing my alphabet is the fact that it comes in two parts.

The Saxophones shape would fit in well with the curvier letters. The idea that it is smaller at the top and where the instrument or letter curves could be larger. This would show the contrast.
